Review: Royal Air Maroc needs a bucket of sugar to make it sweet

On our trip to Morocco, no, actually before that, while we were at the airport, when we were waiting in the check in line, we found out that that wasn’t our waiting line, as a matter of fact, we didn’t have a line, our passengers had already boarded. Then we realised, our check in was closed. Naturally we asked the guy at the till if we could still make our flight. The irritatingly rude man tried to take the easy why out by simply saying “your late you can’t go on the fight.” Not showing the slightest remorse, and not even trying to get us on the plane, (which is very possible as we’ve seen it on TV).

It was precisely that moment that caused a flurry of problems. Well firstly, we got transferred to Tangier, our main destination was Casablanca, and then we had to spend an upsetting and miserable time sleeping at the Airport’s prayer area. The following day we had problems with trying to get directed to Casablanca, so we ended up paying the tickets again.

So, now onto the flight experience, emm… well the 3 hour flight was as your guessing, not the best, tight seats, an old aircraft, terrible toilets, but most surprisingly, the service from the crew was appalling, like for goodness sake, they forgot to give our meals, so we had to tell them. We think these guys must be taking the “You snooze you loose” phrase a bit to seriously, even though we wern’t sleeping.

Update: So the last flight from Casablanca to London was serprisingly good. Bigger seats, cleaner cabin, huge amount of legroom that’s hard to find on some other airlines long haul flights (hint hint, Emirates). And guess what, they remembered to give our meals! They even had ice available for our drinks! But most surprising of all were the TV screens that poped out of the roof of the cabin.

Overall: Well even with the last minute goodies on the previous flight, RAM still has many miles to cover until it can be credited as a good airline.

Emirates unveils its A380 cabin, with all that glamour, it still doesn’t impress

It was supposed to be a time Emirates passengers can be proud of, but today wasn’t. The usual expected luxuries were there, showers, bars, speaking of bars, their always proud showing off their alcohol, all of those were there, but the main things that they so desperately needed to improve weren’t, such as more legroom in economy, bigger screens etc. They say it’s designed to ‘appear’ to look more spacious, but that’s not what we’re looking for. Oh well, better look on to Etihad then.

O man, that’s a fast ferry from Oman

As a matter of fact it’s the fastest diesel ferry in the world, which Oman launched, it’s called the Shinas and it can do a whopping 100km an hour and carry 208 passengers with 56 cars. It was made to promote remote areas which are hard to reach by other means of transport. The facilities and features the ferry has include a tourist class, a first class, a VIP class, catering services, and a helicopter pad.

Say salam to the Evora, the latest addition to Lotus

After 13 long years Proton’s Lotus (Proton a Malaysian muslim company) unveils a new car, the Evora, which was once known as ‘Project Eagle” was recently shown at the London International Motor Show. The Evora was made to be more “holistic” than the Elise and Exige, which means you get air conditioning, leather seats, enough space in the boot to put a golf bag, and even sat nav. With all of that Lotus claims that the Evora can do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. Lotus say the Evora is part of their 5 year strategic plan that includes two new models, which we’ll be keeping an eye on. The Evora should be available in showrooms by Summer 2009.

No more “Is it Halal?” arguments with Mobile Companion

We live in a time were you need to be more cautious about what your eating, seeing as though a lot of food has preservatives, different types of fat and chemicals which can and are Haram. But have no fear; a solution has come to that problem. That solution is Mobile Companion, the text messaging service that answers any question you through at it. Whether it is an Islamic question, scientific question, a question on how to get to a place, any question, Mobile Companion has got it covered. We’ve tried it, and it’s a great concept, which is exactly what Fullscreen is looking for. It seems that it’s only available for the UK as it’s a UK text number, but it doesn’t hurt to be hopeful. The first text is free but the others cost £1, pricey? Yes, innovative? Hell yeah.

Review: Chicken Cottage with more wings than you can shake a straw at

Our first review at Fullscreen is a pretty finger likin’ one.  It’s all about our visit to one of Chicken Cottage’s big fast food shops.

The company: Chicken Cottage was founded by a man called Mohammed Khalid in 1994. Ever since then Chicken Cottage has expanded to various parts of the world including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, South Africa, Canada, and France . And their headquarters are in London with branches all across the UK .

Appearance: From the outside the shop looks like a huge French supermarket, which in a way is very good, but that’s were the good looks ends. When you step inside your welcomed with employees who look like they just came from a funeral, randomly placed cheap tables, and dull cream walls. All of this can easily be changed, like teach the employees to smile, replace the tables and put them in an organised manner, and get a few kids to go crazy on the walls with some paint.

The Food: Well firstly, the workers knew we we’re going to eat in, but for what ever reason, the gave us our meal as like eating out, which was a major flaw as this caused much inconvenience because we had no plates or trays, just pieces of tissue. The food was better than expected, although not MacDonald’s standard. The chicken had the right flavourings in it, with not too much oil. The chips had a good flavour to it, and wasn’t soggy. They also use Pepsi rather than Coke which is important because Coke helps the Zionist country Israel.

Conclusion: Overall, the Chicken Cottage is the right move in giving a unified standard in fast food, but it’s the little things that the company needs to improve on like giving trays for example. The business is probably the second Muslim fast food chain that can have a chance against the big non-Muslim competitors.

Battered Bosnia finds new hope

The humble Bosnian folks who’s families were unjustly massacred can finally look forward to a brighter future if a Malaysian firm explores and finds oil which could potentially lead Bosnia into one of those construction booms as commonly found in the Middle East. It was said that the country could be holding 400 million barrels of oil, the prospects of what this liquid can do to Bosnia is immense. From creating many jobs to making it Europe’s number one oil-rich capital. Let’s just hope our Malaysian brother’s strike black gold.

Astana with their copycat pryramid… still amazes the eye

With so much attention to the Middle East ’s sky line, it’s a nice change to see crazy buildings in other countries, and the Peace Pyramid fits the bill when it comes to craziness. Made in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, the Peace Pyramid seems to be the icon of the city and it seems to be made especially for the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. But it also has an Opera house with an auditorium for some glass breaking.

Abu Dhabi buys a famous New York building, eeh…well done?

Any right minded person would think that the country that’s most likely to start a war is the country you avoid as much as possible, but for some emirates of the UAE, it’s all different, their doing what we like to call ‘playing safe’, by trying to intertwine their economy with America’s one so then maybe they’ll think twice before getting their tin soldiers in. But it’s a smart move to make, maybe not the best, but smart. Now onto the business, Abu Dhabi have just bought 90% of the well known Chrysler building, the price is unknown but it was reported that they baught it for $800m (£400m).

Sleep tight, don’t let your iTeddy keep you up all night

Ever thought what to get a younger member of your family that won’t just keep them quiet for a few hours but not let their brains get wasted, well that’s what Imran Hakim thought of when thinking of something to buy his 9 month old niece Aaminah. So he decided to rustle up something of his own by dismantling one of her teddy bears and lodging some sort of mp3 device into it, which was the eureka moment that made him make the iTeddy, the cuddly teddy bear that has a media player in it which can play music, videos, and bedtime stories so the parents don’t have to, it even turns it self of after the story finishes playing. But Imran didn’t stop there, he wanted his toys to sell, and sell, and sell. Which is why he went to the popular TV programme Dragons Den were he received a £140,000 investment for a joint 20% share by two non-Muslim entrepreneurs, and ever since, his business kept on growing. The iTeddy now sells in the big retail chain Argos, and their even in talks with Disney so kids from 3-11 can watch the Lion King and still hug their furry friend.
